Itinerary

Day 1 Oslo
Arrive in Oslo and make your own way to the hotel. Spend the rest of the day at your leisure. (B)

Day 2 Oslo
See the highlights of the Norwegian capital on a guided sightseeing tour by coach. Sights include Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Holmenkollen Ski Arena and the Viking Ships Museum. (B)

Day 3 Oslo – Voss
Catch the train to Voss, a charming fjord-side town. Spend the rest of the day discovering the walking trails and natural treasures of the town at your leisure. (B)

Day 4 Voss
Enjoy a full-day ‘Norway in a Nutshell’ sightseeing tour. Waterfalls line the road as your coach weaves its way down the valley to Gudvangen. Take a ferry through the narrow fjord before catching the spectacular Flam Railway through awe-inspiring mountain scenery to Myrdal. Return to Voss by train. (BD)

Day 5 Voss – Oslo
Travel to Oslo by train and spend the rest of the day exploring at your leisure. (B)

Day 6 Oslo – Gothenburg
Travel by train to Gothenburg. Spend the rest of the day at your leisure. (B)

Day 7 Gothenburg – Kallandso
Board the canal boat this morning and commence your cruise through the Swedish countryside. Pass through the Lilla Edet lock then negotiate the 32-metre-high lock staircase at Trollhattan. Visit Trollhattan’s canal museum before continuing to Vanersborg and into Lake Vanern, Sweden’s largest lake. Be sure to stay up this evening to catch a glimpse of the baroque-style Lacko Castle on the lakeshore. (BLD)

Day 8 Kallandso – Motala
Enjoy an optional early-morning walk from Godhogen to Hajstorp before continuing by boat to Toreboda. Continue through the 200-year-old Forsvik lock to Karlsborg Fortress for a guided tour. Arrive in Motala this evening. (BLD)

Day 9 Motala – Soderkoping
Descend through Berg’s 15 locks to Lake Roxen. Continue to the Carl-Johan lock staircase – the longest on the canal – before sailing on to Soderkoping and the Baltic Sea. (BLD)

Day 10 Soderkoping – Stockholm
Visit the World Heritage–listed Viking town of Birka, where you will enjoy a guided tour and pay a visit to the museum. Continue past Drottningholm Castle before the cruise ends in Stockholm this afternoon. (BL)

Day 11 Stockholm
Discover the Swedish capital on a sightseeing tour by bus and boat. Take a drive through the city before sailing around the royal park of Djurgarden and past the innermost islands of the Stockholm Archipelago. (B)

Day 12 Stockholm
The tour concludes after breakfast. (B)
